Release Day: Brave The Heat by Sara Humphreys

The only fire he can't put out...

Jordan McKenna is back in town, and Fire Chief Gavin Maguire's feelings when he sees her after all these years are as raw as the day she left. Then he was just a kid wearing his heart on his sleeve. Now he spends every day trying to atone for the tragedy he couldn't prevent.

Is the torch he carries for her...

Jordan's life has not exactly worked out the way she expected. A divorced mother of two with a failed acting career, Jordan's biggest concern about coming back to Old Brookfield was seeing her first love. But when a series of suspicious fires breaks out, Jordan and Gavin realize that dealing with the sparks between them may be the least dangerous of their problems.

Review:

What a great start to a new series contemporary series by Sara Humphreys!!

Jordan McKenna had left home 15 years earlier to get away from her abusive father. She also had left her best friend and love Gavin McGuire. In the time she has been gone Jordan had gotten married and has two young girls. It turns out that she married a man just like her father, is divorced and brings her girls back to Old Field to live and start a new life.

When Gavin sees that Jordan is back in town he wants to know why she left the way she did. He also wants to have a “do over” as he tells her, since he has never gotten over her. They work on rebuilding their relationship, but there are bumps along the way.

They have to deal with Jordan’s now sick father, her ex- husband, and the arsonist who is starting fires in town as well as a few other issues.

I loved this story with the way Gavin and Jordan’s relationship blossoms and Jordan’s two girls are adorable. Not only does Gavin get his girl back, he also gets a family.

I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I would like to see how the relationship with the other characters develops including Gavin’s brother Ronan and Jordan’s friend Maddy.
