Hard Rain: The Montana Hamiltons Series (Book 4) By B.J. Daniels

Overview:

Sooner or later, every family secret comes to light…

When Brody McTavish sees Harper Hamilton's runaway horse galloping across the pastures, he does what any good cowboy would do—gives chase and rescues her. Unfortunately for him, the woman he's secretly loved for years didn't need saving, and she's just reached her limit with people treating her as hopeless. But they soon have bigger problems when they make a gruesome discovery—human remains revealed by a recent rainstorm. Remains that will dredge up old Hamilton family mysteries…and bring about a scandal that could threaten all Harper's loved ones.

With her father running for president, every move Harper makes is under scrutiny. But despite the risks, she's determined to uncover the truth about her family's role in a long-ago murder. If she can trust him enough, Brody will be more than an ally. He could be the only thing standing between Harper and an enemy intent on keeping the past buried forever.

Review:

Hard Rain is book #4 in the Montana Hamilton series by B.J. Daniels. I have read all of the books in the series so far and It is such a great  series with a story line that keeps the reader hooked.

There is romance, suspense, mystery that makes you want to keep reading to learn more.
Harper Hamilton is one of the six daughters of Senator Buckmaster Hamilton and his first wife Sarah. Harper has just come home from being away at college. One day while out riding, Brody McTavish sees her. He chases after her because he thinks she's in trouble. She is just happy to be riding her horse again. Brody helps her anyway because her horse gets spooked. It was spooked by a body that the rain has unearthed.

There is a big investigation to determine that the body is in fact Brody's cousin Maggie. Brody and Harper start their own investigation in addition to the sheriff's. They find clues that the sheriff didn't know about, but also put themselves in danger. During this, they also confess that they have loved each other for a long time. Even though the families don't agree, Harper and Brody decide to pursue their feelings for each other.

You feel like you are reading two stories at once while reading this book. As the investigation is going on, you are reading about the background of Buckmaster's father J.D., his mother Grace and about Brody's cousin Maggie.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I am looking forward to read the next book in the series to learn more about the family and what happens next.
